Little Pine Lagoon Camping
Little Pine Lagoon camping, near Miena, Brady’s Lake Central Highlands premier brown trout fly fishing lagoon. The Little pine Lagoon camping area is located immediately next to Little Line lagoon, which is beside the Marlborough Hwy (B11), approximately 7 km west of the central highlands town of Miena and that connects Miena to the Lyell Highway. There are 2 hotels in Miena and options to buy food and petrol This is a gravel road that is pretty good but can become muddy and slippery after heavy snow or rain. From the highway, the Little Pine Lagoon camping area is app. 500 metres off the main road (signposted) to the flat, level and open grassed camping areas located past the handful of permanent shacks. There are marked areas for tents and trailers. No fires are allowed under any circumstance, so gas/fuel stoves must be carried. Camping fees are payable at the self-registration station on the left as you enter the camping area and a valid Fishing Licence is required to fish; check season and regulations www.ifs.tas.gov.au This campsite is located in Little Pine Lagoon Lakeside Reserve and is widely considered one of the best fly-fishing waters in Australia – naturally grown wild brown trout are the main reason anglers come to Little Pine Lagoon to fish. The lagoon is sizeable, at around 220 ha of shallow water when full. Little Pine Lagoon is surrounded by open grasslands and banks enabling you to fish at many locations. Conditions can be challenging at times, ranging from very hot in Summer t extreme cold, rain, and snow in Winter. Please ensure you are fully equipped, dogs are OK but must be on a lead at all times and under control.
