Camping Hamilton Tasmania, Hamilton is a small historic town located 75 kilometres North West of Hobart, on the Lyell Highway (A2) that connects the state capital Hobart to the major tourist towns on the west coast of Tassie, Strahan and Queenstown. This popular, attractive campground beside the Clyde River has excellent facilities including a children’s playground, dump point toilets, showers, laundry facilities and barbecue. It is well priced at just AUD$6 per night for a maximum stay of 3 nights. There is a self-registration system in operation. This camping area Hamilton is suitable for Big Rigs, including caravans, camper trailers, campervans and motorhomes as well as tent based camping. There is a cafe in the town, and a pub located just a short walk away. If arriving after hours, you can call (0428) 741 909 for camping information. Hamilton was once a busy frontier town consisting of multiple hotels and numerous working breweries. Hamilton is a great stop if you are not in any rush and taking your time when travelling from Hobart to the West Coast of Tassie or vice versa. There is a nice little walk at this campsite that goes alongside the Clyde River, and where if you are lucky you may see a platypus. Take care during summer, as snakes are common in this area.
