Lake Mackintosh is accessed by taking the A10 Murchison Highway, approximately 1 kilometre north of Tullah Village. You will see a signpost where you take a right turn off and follow the road over the dam wall, being a long, narrow single lane road. The camping area Lake Mackintosh is found 6 kilometres from the Murchison Highway, where after a right turn you will find a large camping area, that is flat and grassed. A 2nd camping location can be found beside the boat ramp. Please Note: This campsite is not accessible when dam water is being released over the spillway. Lake Mackintosh camping is suitable for campervans, caravans and motorhomes. Please note this camping location is suitable only for fully self-sufficient campers Рthere are no facilities. You can make a fire in the small campfires that other campers have made. Lake Mackintosh is stocked with trout and is a popular trout fishing lake. You can launch a boat at any of a series of boat ramps on the Lake and spend the day fishing РLicenses required. You can also fish from the shore when the water levels are down. The small nearby town of Tullah is surrounded by lakes and is well known and popular for boating and fishing enthusiasts. There are also a number of great bushwalks in the area, including the challenging bushwalk to the summit of Mt Farrell which, if reached will reward the walker with stunning views.
