Camping Lime Bay
Lime Bay Campground, amazing campsite close to Port Arthur, Nubeena, White Beach South East Coast of Tasmania near Slopen Main, Preymadena. Limited facilities, but great toilets. Camp for $13 per night for 2-adults, each additional adult sharing the same campsite $5 per person & children 5-17 $2.50 per night. The campground operates on a pay and display basis and is patrolled daily by a ranger to ensure fees have been paid. Bookings are NOT possible. Suitable for all forms of camping – strictly NO DOGS or pets. The Lime Bay campground gets very busy over Christmas and the New Year, Easter, long weekends and school holidays. The area is prone to fire bans at short notice during warmer summer months; a fuel stove is recommended for cooking. The Lime Bay State Reserve is a large and scenic coastal 1300 ha secluded reserve consisting of sheltered beaches and eucalyptus plantations at the end of Coal Mines Rd. Nearby towns include Nubeena, White Beach, Preymadena, Taranna, Port Arthur, Dunalley and Eaglehawk Neck. There are 2 beaches close to this campsite; the first is Lime Bay which is immediately adjacent to the campsite and Lagoon Beach which is on nearby Sloping Island. This site can be reached by an easy walk. Close to the campsite, you will find what remains of the 1833 coal mines where convicts housed at Port Arthur were sent for punishment and which are recommended for a visit while camping Lime Bay. Limestone Bay campground is app. 12 km south-west of the small fishing town of Dunalley. To get to Lime Bay campground, take the C341 from Preymadena, through Saltwater River.
