River Rocks campsite is easily accessed and suitable for big rigs including motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers and campervans as well as for basic tent camping. The campsite River Rocks is well suited to group camping and there are a decent number of reasonably private sites which can accommodate a caravan or motorhome. There are no powered sites at River Rocks, no bookings are possible and pets, kept under control, are OK. River and Rocks campground is patrolled by rangers and has a pit toilet and barbecue; you will, however, need to bring your own water and firewood. This campsite is not in the Freycinet National Park so camping fees or park entry don’t apply. Campers can stay for a maximum of 4-weeks at River Rocks campsite. There are no showers and only a pit toilet. There is no drinking water, so you must carry your own fresh drinking water. Fires are only permitted in the fireplaces that are provided and you must carry your own wood – fuel stoves are recommended. For food, petrol and other supplies you will need to drive into nearby Coles Bay. There is a small track to the river to launch boats, but please note the water is shallow. Larger vehicles should take extreme care on the soft sand as it is easy to get bogged. To access, drive to the waypoint on Coles Bay Road, some 7.5km North of Coles Bay before turning southwest. Continue for 800m to the campground along the dirt road. The River Rocks campground is extremely popular during Christmas and Easter holidays, school holidays and long weekends.
