Walk-in only bushwalker campsite at Cooks Beach in Freycinet National Park, reached via a 12km (about 3.5 hour) walking track from the car park – no vehicle access. Composting toilets are provided, and the historic 1859 Cooks Hut offers shelter. A water tank at the hut is not guaranteed due to low rainfall, so carry your own drinking water. No bookings needed or possible; dogs are not permitted in the national park.

Set against the backdrop of the Hazards mountains, the campground features basic facilities including a historic stone shelter known as Cooks Hut, composting toilets, and a rainwater tank that can be unreliable during dry periods. Accessible only by foot or boat as part of multi-day hikes like the Freycinet Peninsula Circuit, it offers a peaceful retreat with pristine turquoise waters and secluded tent sites nestled just behind the coastal dunes. Campers must carry a fuel stove, pack out all waste, and hold a valid Tasmanian National Parks Pass.
