Craggy Peaks Tasmania offers a spectacular bush camping experience at Rossarden in Tasmania’s Fingal Valley. Set amongst forests, mountains and flowing streams near the southern side of Ben Lomond National Park, this peaceful retreat is a great base for campers wanting to explore one of Tasmania’s quieter inland regions. Unlike many of the locations featured on Free Camping Tasmania, Craggy Peaks is a paid campground. Both powered and unpowered camping sites are available, along with self-contained cabin accommodation.

Camping at Craggy Peaks

Craggy Peaks offers both powered caravan and motorhome sites and unpowered tent camping in a beautiful natural setting.

The powered sites are spacious and grassy and are conveniently located near the campground amenities. They include access to power and water and are suitable for most caravans and motorhomes. The unpowered camping sites are also grassy but occupy a particularly attractive position beside a flowing creek. These sites are primarily intended for tent camping and provide an excellent option for visitors wanting a more traditional camping experience. Both powered and unpowered sites accommodate a maximum of six people per site.

Wildlife at Craggy Peaks

One of the highlights of staying at Craggy Peaks is the opportunity to see Tasmania’s native wildlife. Wallabies, wombats and quolls are among the animals that may be encountered around the property, particularly around dusk and after dark. Visitors should never feed wildlife and should keep food and rubbish securely stored.

Are Dogs Allowed?

No. Craggy Peaks no longer permits pets.

The campground advises that, due to increased native wildlife activity on the property, pets have not been permitted at Craggy Peaks since May 2025. Some older camping directories may still list Craggy Peaks as dog friendly, but this information is now out of date.
