Liffey Falls Camping
Free camping Liffey Falls Tasmania, close to Deloraine Liffey Falls are a very popular tourist attraction, being a series of spectacular waterfalls, which can be viewed from well-designed observation decks where the water flows through dense myrtle rainforest in the area of the Great Western Tiers. The free Liffey Falls campsite is reasonably small, sheltered and has a grassy campground located at the Gulf Rd picnic area, which is signposted off the Liffey Falls/Lower Track Road. There is no charge to camp at the Liffey Falls campground; facilities are limited but do include toilets. Pets are strictly prohibited. The toilets have disabled access; there are sheltered picnic areas and gas barbecues at the upper end of the reserve. The Liffey Falls camping area is best accessed from Liffey to the east if you are driving a larger vehicle such as a motorhome, campervan, or even a camper trailer. Riversdale Rd, which takes you to the top car park and falls walk, is narrow, gravel, and winding and is not accessible by trailers and vans. Campers and visitors are recommended to walk the 1.5 hr Liffey Falls Track that connects the upper and lower picnic areas. Please note this part of Tassie can get very cold in winter, and heavy rainfall is common – please be well prepared and take care on the narrow roads that can be slippery after heavy rain and snow. If you are into fishing, you can fish for trout if you hold a valid license in the nearby Liffey River. The Liffey Falls campground is a relatively short, picturesque drive from the Northern Tasmanian town of Launceston through the small towns of Bracknell and Bishipsbourne.
