About

Free camping Petal Point campground, Mt William National Park Cape Portland, Rushy Lagoon North East Tasmania. Beautiful campground suit big rigs through to rent camping, spectacular ocean views but very exposed and susceptible to very strong winds. A small selection of campsites are set away from water, offering some shelter from the wind. The facilities at Petal Point Campground are very basic, with pit toilets only – there are no other facilities, so campers will need to be largely fully self-sufficient. Stay free of charges at Petal Point for up to 4-weeks; all sites are unpowered and there is no capacity to make bookings. All camping is on a first-come, first served basis. Take care during Summer, as venomous Tiger Snakes are common in and around this campground. To access, travel on the Cape Portland Rd (C844), 21 km north of the small town of Gladstone, and then turn left to Petal Point at a t-junction, and where you will see a signpost to the Petal Point camping area.
