Craigbourne Estate Colebrook

Self-contained camping on an 8-acre property beside Craigbourne Dam, 5 minutes from Colebrook and about 40 minutes from Hobart. No power, toilets or showers are provided; contained campfires are permitted (firewood sold on site) and the dam is popular for trout and Atlantic salmon fishing (angling licence required). Craigbourne Dam is located in the Coal River Valley and app. 1-hour’s drive from Hobart.  Craigbourne Dam is a highly popular and convenient freshwater fishery renowned for its year-round angling access and that is managed by the Inland Fisheries Service (IFS). Craigbourne Dam is regularly stocked with rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon, and adult brown trout, making it a prime destination for shore-based casting, fly fishing, and trolling from small boats.

Anglers over the age of 14 require a valid Tasmanian inland angling licence, and while the lake features an excellent public boat ramp and accessible, grassy shorelines, visitors should note that it is subject to seasonal water level fluctuations and periodic algal bloom restrictions
