Camping Lake Binney
Camping Lake Binney, central highlands Tarraleah Tasmania the Bronte lake system comprises 4 main lakes; Bronte Lagoon, Bradys Lake, Lake Binney, and Tungatinah Lagoon. These lakes were developed between 1952-56 as water storages to operate the Tungatinah power station on the Nive River. Lake Binney is located directly beside the Lyell Highway, A10 highways connecting Hobart with the West Coast of Tasmania. From the signposts on the highway, you will find the Lake Binney boat ramp, which is located app.3 kilometres south of the campsite at Bradys Lake. This area has reasonable, flat, and shaded small bush campsites near the boat ramp at Lake Binney. Across the dam wall, you will also find other campsites, being on the eastern shore of Lake Binney. These campsites are accessible from a road that crosses the dam wall. The campsites Lake Binney are bush camping, and the area is suitable for larger vehicles including campervans, caravans, motorhomes and camper trailers. Please note there are no facilities whatsoever at Lake Binney; bring your own fuel stove, fresh drinking water, and a portable toilet is recommended. The lake and river system in this area features naturally spawned brown trout, however, rainbow trout in small numbers exist in both Bronte Lagoon and Bradys Lake. More recently Atlantic salmon and brook trout have been stocked in all of these water systems. Lake Binney generally provides offers good fly fishing early in the Trout Fishing season in Tasmania. Fishing is open at Lake Binney from the first Saturday of August in any year to the Sunday nearest the 30 April in the next year. This location is suitable for an overnight stay if you are travelling from Hobart to Strahan and need a free overnight stop, however, this campsite is mostly suited to trout fishermen who are fully self-sufficient. Please note that during winter, in particular, this campsite can get very wet, muddy and is subject to heavy snow and strong winds. Camping fishing Tasmania
