The Conara roadside stop is now permanently closed – camping not permitted.

The nearest alternative camping option for fully self-contained vehicles is Campbell Town; there is also a roadside camping option at Fingal.

The facilities block at Conara Roadside camping has been demolished and the area is not very inviting as a camp site. I would suggest you consider Campbell Town as an alternative.

Thanks very much John, we'll update our information. The large gravel area is potentially OK for fully self-contained vehicles, but we agree Campbell Town is a much more attractive option. Happy Camping

Free camping Tasmania

Camping is a great outdoor recreational activity involving overnight stays away from home in a shelter such as a tent, a caravan, or motorhome. Camping can be enjoyed through all four seasons in Tasmania, however you should always be prepared especially in the highlands or in Winter. Never leave home without being fully prepared – camping in Tassie is a great, affordable and enjoyable way to discover the great state of Tasmania Australia in an affordable and fun way.
