The camping area is not massive and offers little shelter, but is mostly flat and grassy and an attractive location for an overnight stay. It is particularly popular for people travelling between Launceston and Hobart, or to the East Coast of Tasmania from either Hobart or Launceston via the Lake Leake Highway.
