Rivers Edge Wilderness Camping
The very popular River’s Edge Wilderness Campground is situated south of Hobart at Lonnavale, app. 60 kilometres or 1-hour drive from Tassie’s state capital Hobart. The Rivers Edge Wilderness Camping area is a camping and leisure site where you can get away from your busy life, and breathe fresh Tasmanian air for a few days. Private sites cater for anything from a single tent up to multiple tents, RVs or vans, and are spread out over 1-kilometre of river frontage. River’s Edge is close to many tourist attractions in Tasmania’s stunning Huon Valley and the southernmost parts of Tasmania, from mountain climbing and whitewater rafting to bushwalking, mountain biking, and wandering quietly through art galleries and specialty shops in towns including Huonville, Franklin, and Geeveston. River’s Edge is a great campground for the kids, offering a number of activities. Sit back in your camp chair under the shade of a tree and read a book, enjoy a beer, wine, or soft drink, or join your family and friends for a swim in the beautiful river running past campsites. Play disc golf, walk the camp circuit, kick a ball, play cricket, catch a fish. Light the barbecue for lunch. All this, and more, at Southern Tasmania’s wilderness camping ground.
