Lake Burbury Camping
Lake Burbury Camping Ground is popular with trout fishermen and is located on the Lyell Highway, some. 3-hours drive (250 km) southwest of Launceston, or a 20-minute drive east of Queenstown. For inquiries, please contact the caretaker on 0418 562 732 during business hours (08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday), or 03 64 712762 if calling after hours. Lake Burbury is located on the edge of Tasmania’s World Heritage Wilderness Area, where you can fish for Tasmanian wild trout, both brown and rainbow trout in abundance. Fishing licenses are required (14 years and over) and trout fishing is seasonal. Lake Burbury Camping Ground offers a large grassed camping area with many spots having good shelter. Campsites cost a small daily fee of app. AUD$6.00 per tent, campervan, or RV, and a caretaker is located on-site. Lake Burbury Camping Ground provides two good sites next to Lake Burbury – both camping areas are suitable for tents, caravans, campervans, motorhomes, and big rigs. You must carry your own water and firewood. There is a coin-operated barbecue, and other than fishing you can enjoy water sports including kayaking and canoeing. Please note this campsite can be very busy in summer and during holiday periods; the grassed camping areas can get very wet after heavy and/or prolonged rain and or snow during colder winter months.
