Deep Creek Campground
Deep Creek Campground, Mt William National Park, Eddystone Point Anson’s Bay Tasmania, fabulous beachside camping area on the far North East of Tasmania, in the magnificent Mt William National Park. To camp at the Deep Creek Campground, you will need to be largely fully self-sufficient – there are basic pit toilets, fireplaces and picnic tables but no other facilities. A camper self-registration system applies at Deep Creek, but the area is patrolled by a ranger who checks that fees have been paid. Camping is from $15.50 per night for 2 people, plus $5 for extra adults. Two adults can camp at Deep Creek Campground for 1 week for AUD$50. The maximum stay at Deep Creek Campground is 4-weeks. Dogs are STRICTLY PROHIBITED at Deep Creek, and in the Mt William National Park and in all National Parks in Tasmania. The Deep Creek camping area is not massive but is highly prized and very busy over the Christmas New Year period, on long weekends and over Easter and school holidays. There are a few sites close to the estuary that fronts the 2 private shacks at Deep Creek, and other sites further back that offer increased shelter and privacy. It is important to note that this campground can get very, very windy so be prepared. The Deep Creek campground is suitable for tent camping through to Big Rigs, but please note the sites suitable to big rigs is limited. Whilst camping at the Deep Creek campground, you can take long walks on spectacular beaches featuring pure white sandy beaches, and crystal clear blue water. You can engage in a variety of water sports including beach and rock fishing. Please swim with extreme care, and strictly follow all local signs as beaches are not patrolled. The nearest facilities to Deep Creek are the small town of Gladstone where you can get very basic supplies and petrol, or the bigger town of St Helens. There is bore water available at Deep Creek, but it is not suitable for drinking. The gravel road that leads to Deep Creek is generally OK, but take extreme care as it is narrow in parts, and slippery on the gravel verge. Whilst staying at the Deep Creek campground, be sure to visit the Eddystone Point Lighthouse.
