Top Camp Mt WIlliam
Camping Top Camp, Mt William National Park Musselroe Bay North East Tasmania, camping idyllic location, suit smaller rigs, caravans, camper-trailers and campervans. Tent based camping is not recommended, as the area gets incredibly windy and is exposed to very strong North Westerly winds. The dirt track leading from the signposted road at Musselroe Bay is generally OK for most vehicles, but bigger vehicles may have trouble after heavy rains. There are no bookings taken, and all sites are unpowered. The only facility is a single basic pit-toilet, there is no water and no rubbish collection. The area is patrolled by rangers. Dogs are strictly prohibited. Mt William National Park is located in the far northeast of Tasmania and is one of the least visited National Parks in Tasmania. We don’t know why, it is simply spectacular and offers excellent camping, fishing, bushwalking and sightseeing opportunities. By contrast, Camping Bay of Fires is extremely popular, and not that far away. Mt William is quite remote, and not close to any major centre – Gladstone is the closest town, and is only very small and seels petrol and basic provisions. Campers at Top Camp Mt William will be rewarded with beautiful beaches, and where it is not uncommon for you to be the only person on the beach. The Top Camp Campground in the Mt. William National Park Tasmania Australia, is signposted off the C845 and is located 8 kilometres north of the Mt William National Park, and self-registration booth. After travelling just under 2.5 kilometres east into the park you will find an open campsite with limited shade and shelter. Camping fees apply, charges are $13 for 2-adults per night and $5 for each additional adult. However, during our last visit, the camper self-registration system was broken and payment wasn’t possible. Swimming is not recommended, the beaches are not patrolled and rips are common in the area. Strictly obey any local signs.
